Certified Lodging Security Officer (CLSO)

Developed in collaboration with the US Department of Homeland Security, the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) offers the CLSO training curriculum. This program provides the latest techniques for ensuring guest and employee safety within the hospitality sector.

The course covers a range of topics, including:

  • Legal responsibilities applicable to lodging establishments
  • A security officer’s authority and legal limitations
  • Routine security tasks, including documentation, patrols, and investigations
  • Emergency preparedness and response to crises such as human trafficking, terrorism, hostage situations, and natural disasters

Candidates must complete a 60-question multiple-choice exam within two hours to earn the CLSO certification.

Physical Security Certification (PSC)

Administered by the Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE), this certification indicates a comprehensive understanding of physical security principles and procedures. It is particularly relevant for Department of Defense personnel, industry professionals, and federal government staff involved in physical security tasks.

Certified Protection Officer (CPO)

Associate Protection Professional (APP)

Created by ASIS International, the APP certification is ideal for security personnel with one to four years of industry experience. It acts as a stepping stone for those aspiring to become security managers.

The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, with an additional 25 pre-test questions. Candidates have two hours to complete the exam.

Certified Protection Professional (CPP)

Also offered by ASIS International, the CPP certification is a widely respected credential for security management professionals. Over 12,000 professionals worldwide have earned the CPP, making it a recognized standard of excellence.

The CPP exam includes 225 multiple-choice questions, of which 200 are scored. The evaluation time is four hours.
